We are excited to announce that we are partnering with Sunrise Community for Recovery and Wellness to bring Peer University to Boone! This four-day course will take place daily from 10AM to 4PM, Monday, May 12th through Thursday, May 15th.

Peer University is FREE to attend and provides 20 contact hours upon completion, which can be applied toward the additional 20 continuing education hours* needed to become a Certified Peer Support Specialist, or as recertification hours! This training is also an excellent opportunity for anyone considering becoming a peer support specialist.

A big thanks to the Boone Community Care Program, Town of Boone Police Department , and Blue Cross NC for sponsoring this event! Your support helps us empower and educate individuals who are passionate about supporting others in recovery.

*Please note: These hours are in addition to the 50-hour PSS training that must be taken separately in order to certify.

reentry simulation

Successful Reentry is a challenging and unpredictable process. Reentry Simulations offer powerful insight into the perspectives and barriers faced by people reentering the community after a period of incarceration. Over the course of about 1 and 1/2 hours participants experience the first month of post-release life. This is a large scale training (approx. 60 people) we hope to offer to the community each year, and can provide to other large groups or organizations for a fee. If your group is interested in hosting this event, please reach out as far in advance as possible to ensure adequate planning time and coordination.
