the shannon house
Our men's recovery home is named in honor of Shannon Greene, who lost his life to addiction on January 29, 2021. Shannon was the brother and brother-in-law of our landlords, David and Rachel Sanders, and their story is at the heart of why this home exists.

David and Rachel offered their property for recovery housing because they knew, firsthand, the cost of not having such a resource in the community. When Shannon sought recovery, the nearest available bed was over five hours away. In the most vulnerable moment of his life, he was removed from his support system, from family, from the community he knew. The road to recovery—already difficult—became even harder in isolation.

We can’t change the past, but we can shape the future. David put it best:

“If providing recovery housing in our community gives one more day of connection between a parent and a child, one more day for someone to feel loved—then it’s worth it. Just one more day. But we believe Homestead can do more than that. Recovery housing can save lives.”

The Shannon House stands as a tribute to a life lost too soon, and as a beacon of hope for others still fighting. It reminds us daily why we do this work: because everyone deserves the chance to heal, to reconnect, and to come home.
